Terms of Service.
These terms govern your use of the Use Time hosted web application at use-time.com. They are written to be readable. If anything is genuinely unclear, email us at [email protected] and we will rewrite it.
By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
1. The service
Use Time is a personal-productivity web app built around the methodology in R. Geoff Dromey's book Use Time Or It Will Use You. We are not affiliated with the Dromey estate.
The service is currently in open beta and provided free of charge. We may change the feature set, pricing model, or availability at any time, but we will not surprise you with a price tag — see §6.
2. Your account
- You must verify your email address before signing in. Verification links expire after 24 hours; you can request a new one at any time.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Use a unique password and store it in a password manager.
- One person, one account. Sharing accounts is not supported.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
3. Your content and data
The app stores the content you create — goals, journals, retrospectives, habit ticks, calendar subscriptions — so it can provide the service to you. We process this content only to operate the app for you; we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. How we collect, use, and store personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
You can delete your account at any time. Deletion is permanent and removes the associated data within 30 days (the lag accounts for backup rotation).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- store or transmit illegal content, or content that infringes another person's rights;
- attempt to access another user's account or data;
- probe, scan, or test the security of the service except via a coordinated disclosure (email [email protected]);
- send automated traffic in volumes that degrade the service for others.
Violations may result in account suspension or termination, with notice where reasonably practicable.
5. Intellectual property
The methodology described in the app is the intellectual property of R. Geoff Dromey and his estate; we use it as a faithful reader's companion in tribute, with no claim of original methodology authorship. The app's source code may be released under an open-source licence in the future; until then, we retain rights to the code itself. The book is the authoritative source — you should buy it.
6. Open beta
The service is free during the open beta. If we eventually charge for hosted access, we will:
- email all existing accounts at least 30 days before any price takes effect;
- provide a clear path to export your data and continue elsewhere.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We make no promises about uptime, suitability for purpose, or that the methodology will improve any particular outcome in your life. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties.
This does not affect any non-excludable consumer guarantees you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising from or related to the service is limited to AUD 100 in aggregate. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms; we will give reasonable notice except where the breach itself is severe or ongoing. On termination, sections 3, 7, 8 and 11 survive.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will email you and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the service after a material change constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by discussion is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
